Moderate Engagement (ME)

  • What counts as Moderate Engagement?

    Moderate Engagement includes participation in Honors Initiatives, research, and attending and volunteering for Honors-sponsored events.

    • Sustainability Conference or Honors Showcase attendee
    • Student research participant (early-stage or supporting role)
    • Honors Engage or Library Series attendee
    • Exploring the Arts events
    • HSA large-scale event participant (e.g., formal, banquet, Kennedy Space Center trip, haunted house, STEAM night)
    • Dedicated member of an honors student initiative (attended more than 3 internal events/meetings)
    • Volunteer to support running of an honors event
    • Attend sessions with VIPs (for example dinner with guest speaker)

    To declare initiative membership and/or research involvement, please fill out the Honors Initiative or Research Declaration form.

  • What counts as Moderate Engagement?

    For most Honors Program students, the ways to meet Honors Engagement requirements using ME activities are:

    • Moderate Engagement Trio: Three ME activities
    • Balanced Trio: One ME activity, one FE activity, and one HI activity
    • Mixed Impact (Moderate Focus): Two ME activities, and one HI activity
    • Mixed Engagement (Moderate Focus): Two ME activities, and one FE activity
    • Mixed Engagement (Foundational Focus): One ME activity, and three FE activities

    For students that are considered dual-commitment, the requires are loosened as follows:

    • Moderate Engagement Duo: Two ME activities
    • Mixed Engagement (Balanced Duo): One ME activity, and one FE activity
