The White Hat Eagles Cybersecurity Club is a student organization that focuses on information and network security. We practice both offensive and defensive cybersecurity concepts and techniques, using cutting edge methods of attacking and defending assets. In relation to certifications that our material is applicable to, we are focused heavily in CompTIA Security+.
We conduct research and security analysis on commercially available, off-the-shelf equipment such as Smart Home appliances, wearables and much more. We participate in weekly, capture the flag competitions hosted internally. These competitions are designed to challenge students' technical skill and ability, to quickly analyze digital systems and capture secret messages hidden on them. We also compete against other universities and competitors at cyber security conferences. We are also collaborating on a department wide robotics project, in which we provide cyber security advise and technical support.
We hold our meetings in the Cyber Security Lab (Lehman Building 131). This lab is on it's own network so we are able to perform all sorts of tests on the computers without getting in trouble.
You don't have to have any prior knowledge about cyber! We teach the basics and work from there. Missed a meeting? We hold open labs on Saturdays (if needed) where you can learn more topics and catch up from previous meetings.
We meet all sorts of companies that want to connect with us. We also hold our own Career Expo in the lab where you are able to talk to companies. We attend conferences and we have had members receive offers just from attending.
