The Nicole Stott Art Gallery

Providing students with the opportunity to share their creative talents and enjoy the creativity of the campus community.

Recognizing that creativity and innovation are essential components of both artistic and scientific endeavors, the gallery was founded to foster a deeper appreciation for the arts within our predominantly technical community.

Embry‑Riddle honored artist, retired astronaut, Board of Trustees emerita and university alumna Mrs. Nicole Stott by dedicating an art gallery in her honor. The Nicole Stott Art Gallery recognizes Mrs. Stott’s remarkable achievements as a veteran of two spaceflights who spent 104 days living and working in space on both the Space Shuttle and the International Space Station (ISS), where she worked for more than six hours while tethered outside the ISS. She also created a watercolor Earth-scape from a photograph she took through a window of the space station, thereby becoming the first person to paint with watercolors in space.

Passion for Art

At the Nicole Stott Art Gallery, our students embrace the arts with enthusiasm and passion. Whether they are engineering majors, pilots in training or future astronauts, they find inspiration in the creative works on display. The gallery not only showcases the talents of our own student body but also features exhibitions from faculty, staff and renowned artists, providing a diverse and enriching experience.

By engaging with art, our students broaden their perspectives and enhance their capacity for innovation, proving that even in an aerospace university, the arts play a crucial role in shaping well-rounded, forward-thinking individuals.
