About ERAU Women's Baja SAE Team

Founded in Fall 2005 as an all-women team, the Coed Women’s Baja SAE Team proudly retains “Women’s” in its name to honor its pioneering founders and continued commitment to empowering women in engineering while welcoming all students. This student-led organization designs, builds, and races off-road Baja vehicles, competing each year in national collegiate endurance events that transform classroom knowledge into real-world engineering and project management experience. Unlike most Baja teams, we push innovation further by utilizing a track system similar to a tank, rather than the standard four-wheel design, which showcases our creativity and technical ambition. Open to all majors and experience levels, members gain hands-on experience in design, fabrication, logistics, marketing, and teamwork—no prior experience required. Join a community driven by innovation, collaboration, and determination!

Hands-On Projects

At Baja SAE, we are designing, manufacturing and testing our own vehicle. That means every member puts in elbow grease into making it happen. Team members learn how to operate all equipment and each machines safety requirements. Further, members have the ability to learn to weld and more.

Vehicle Dynamics

Regardless of exposure to the automotive industry, we train each member on the physics behind the car. All members are well prepared by our leads and contribute to the designs of the vehicle each year. Also, members on the team work on our Public Relations team helping us fundraise and promote the team.

Members Benifits

Becoming a member of the Women's Baja SAE team here gives numerous benefits including learning about vehicle dynamics, contributing to hands-on projects, and creating connections with other peers. This team elevates every member regardless of experience level or age.

Connections

Connect with other engineering peers and many other career paths. We accept all majors and incorporate all levels of experience from beginner machinists to advanced welders. Being a part of this team lasts past graduation, and current members are still connected to our alumni.
