Society of Black Physicists

The purpose of this club is to promote the professional development and well-being of African Americans pursuing degrees in physics within the local scientific community and region at large. This club seeks to develop and support efforts to increase opportunities, activities, and programs for African Americans in physics. The Society of Black Physicists seeks to provide a non-partisan platform for major issues of scientific and cultural significance to its membership. Most importantly, the club aims to establish a more connected, personal, and engaged community for the student members.

We aim to provide a fun and safe enviornment for physics students to come ask questions, share their intelligence, and challenge the current understanding of physics.  Our future meetings will include apperances from professors, study groups, and brain breaks like games or movie nights.  Outside of meetings, we plan on becoming active in the community as a club and raise awareness of the possibilities of pursuing a career in Physical Sciences!

First General Body Meeting is to take place on Tuesday 03/26 in the College of Arts and Sciences Room 103. We will begin our meeting promptly at 5:30PM and we are expecting to have a fairly short meeting.
