Let's fight hunger together! Join the Volunteer Network for ERAU Day at Second Harvest Food Bank in Orlando, FL! 

 *Lunch and Transportation Provided*

Please read the information below for more information and details to prepare your for the service day. 

What will I be doing as a volunteer? 

- Sorting Donations for distribution to over 500 partner agencies. 
- Sorting includes checking for damages, quality and expiration dates of donations, repacking donations and on occasion bagging produce and frozen meats, restocking coolers and putting together disaster relief boxes.

How do I register?
- Registration is required for all volunteers. After reserving your spot with us, you will be redirected to the Second Harvest Volunteer Hub to complete your official registration. 

How will volunteers get to Orlando? 
- SESU staff will be driving us in ERAU vans to Orlando for the day. 
- For safety reasons, we strongly recommend and prefer all volunteers to ride in our provided transportation. However, if you prefer to use your own transportation, please email us at DBServes@erau.edu by October 4, 2024. 

Where do we check-in on October 12th? 
- Volunteers will meet the shuttle stop in front of the Mori Hosseini Student Union at 11:00am. 
- At check-in volunteers will receive a lunch, snacks, water and a t-shirt.
- Vans will depart and head to Orlando beginning at 11:30am

How long will we be in Orlando? 
- The drive to and from Second Harvest Food Bank is approximately 1 Hour;
- We expect to arrive in enough time to begin our service at 1:00pm until 4:00pm
- We expect to be back on campus between 5:00pm and 6:00pm 

How many community service hours will I receive for the day? 
- Volunteers who complete the full service experience will receive 4 Hours
- Hours will change/decrease based on volunteer activity

I am on the Wait List, now what? 
- If another volunteer is no longer able to attend, you will recieve a notification as soon as possible confirming your spot. 
- We will also be in contact with Second Harvest Food Bank to determine additional space. 
** We cannot guarantee a space will be available. However, our team will be in touch with you in advance. 

I am no longer able to attend, what should I do? 
- Please cancel your registration on the Second Harvest Volunteer Hub and email us at dbserves@erau.edu at least 48 hours before the service day. 

Second Harvest Requirements for Volunteers

*Minimum Age: 10+
*Close-toed and closed-heel shoes: Required for everyone
*Clothing: Wear breathable, comfy clothing that you are okay with getting dirty
*Physical Requirements: Standing for long periods of time and lifting boxes/items

*Mask Policy: Due to the prolonged and substantial drop in COVID cases and hospitalizations, Second Harvest Food Bank is happy to announce that as of Monday 5/2/22 masks will no longer be required to be worn. We recommend that you continue to exercise caution and consider social distancing around   large crowds, particularly outside the foodbank. We will continue to stay updated on any vaccination and booster info and of course you are allowed to continue to wear a mask if you so desire.

Helpful Info:
*Temperature: The warehouse temp is typically similar to the temperature outside due to the deliveries and pick-ups that occur. Ex. if it’s cooler outside, layers are recommended, warmer outside, shorts are acceptable.
*Bottled Water: Provided in the break room for all volunteers
