About Us
The goal of Project HOME is to understand and find the most effective way to grow plants on the surface of Mars. Using hydroponic systems to grow super foods in a solar powered greenhouse the team finds ways to effectively grow plants on Mars. Current research is focused on the solar irradiance (sunlight) received on the planet and how it will effect the growth of the plants. Future plans are to see how the atmospheric composition and temperature effect the plant growth. Since 2016 work has been done on Moringa Oleifera under artificial Mars sunlight in a deep water culture hydroponic system to see how the pant grows at ERAU. Project HOME is expanding previous research and finding new methods to help NASA, SpaceX, and alike componies determine how to feed astronauts on Mars.
